From 4th to 8th February, the Australasian College of Phlebology hosted the XVIII UIP World Congress of Phlebology in Melbourne. The comprehensive program highlighted the latest scientific advances in the field. The program featured key-note lectures, free paper sessions, consensus meetings and workshops on a wide range of topics.
Dr Peter Paraskevas of Vein Health Clinic was proud to be a part of the UIP 2018 Live Demonstration Workshop held on Saturday the 4th of February at Melbourne’s Convention Centre and The Skin Cancer Foundation.
There were over 200 delegates in attendance at the workshop on the Saturday. There was plenty of time for questions and discussion after the procedures. This was arguably one of the most comprehensive and informative Live Demonstration workshops held in recent years.

Dr Paraskevas demonstrated a live case of radiofrequency ablation with the help of his vascular sonographer Lisa Shrimpton and nursing assistant Michelle Ames. He also demonstrated direct vision foam and liquid sclerotherapy of periorbital veins.
Dr Paraskevas also presented case study on medical grade cyanoacrylate ablation of the gastrocnemius vein, during the glue symposium at UIP 2018. This session brought together several local and international doctors to discuss their experiences with medical grade cyanoacrylate ablation (medical super glue) in the treatment of varicose veins. There were case presentations, long term results of studies using glue and tips and hints on the use of medical cyanoacrylate for the doctors in attendance.
